Taglio TSC Smart Card Integration Kit
Smart Card Authentication for Android
With Taglio TSC, Systems Administrators and Software Developers can implement Smart Card based authentication using most web-enabled Android Applications. Taglio TSC requires no modification to servers or applications, and supports most web enabled Android apps with minimal configuration – including popular web browsers such as Chrome™, Dolphin®, Firefox® and Opera®.
Smart Cards can be connected using the Near Field Communications (NFC) reader built into many Android devices or a supported USB smart card reader such as Identive’s CLOUD 2910 R . Taglio TSC supports multiple cards, including the Taglio C2 series, smart cards based on the US Government Personal Identity Verification standard (PIV, PIV-I and CIV), as well as contact and contactless/NFC cards from multiple other vendors.
Simple and Secure End User Experience
For the enterprise end-user Taglio TSC is simple and effective. The Taglio TSC main screen allows the end-user to quickly select the credential to use, and the site to connect to. The end user can then quickly launch the application to use with the selected credential; the Taglio Secure browser, a browser like Firefox or Opera, or another application.
Enterprise security and trust are managed through a security profile that can be customized for the Card Issuer or Enterprise. This profile includes a trust store with certificates for server and client validation, a list of managed destinations, supported card profiles, supported readers, and relevant security settings. It also includes a list of bookmarks for the end user to choose from.
Taglio TSC Architecture
When the server requests a client certificate authentication for a smart card based certificate the TSC Middleware uses the configured profile to communicate with the Smart Card , present the User PIN, and handle the cryptographic transaction.
After the secure connection is established, TSC uses the proxy interface to make available the connection to the client application. No changes have to be made to the client application – the application only has to be configured to use the Taglio TSC local proxy interface. Any Android application that can support HTTPS connections and a proxy can be configured to work with Taglio TSC.
Taglio Secure Browser
The Taglio Secure Browser is a full featured open-source browser that has been modified to support the Taglio TSC Proxy Interface directly. The Taglio Secure Browser can be used by end users without any additional configuration, and by software developers as an example of how to interface to Taglio TSC.
Licensing and Partner Program
Taglio TSC is available for licensing to Large Enterprise and System Integrators. Software Developers and Hardware Manufacturers interested in bundling or integrating their products with Taglio TSC can join the Taglio Partner Program.
